Lymphedema is a disease that causes swelling in a person's arms or legs because of a buildup of fluid, often related to cancer and cancer treatment. Ongoing treatment and rehabilitation using decongestive therapy is the only way to control lymphedema. A physician referral is necessary to receive specialized lymphedema treatment.
