Cabell Huntington Hospital's Senior Services hosts a free workshop at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 to bring Medicare experts together with those who are eligible to enroll —or already enrolled— in the federal health insurance program.

Cabell Huntington’s Welcome to Medicare workshops take place the fourth Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. in the Harless Auditorium near the atrium on Cabell Huntington Hospital's ground floor. The workshops feature Marcia Meeks, Director of the West Virginia Bureau of Senior Services State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). The presentations focus on the following questions:

  • Are you new to Medicare?
  • Do you have questions about your Medicare coverage?
  • When will you be eligible for Medicare?
  • How does Medicare work with your employer coverage?

Teresa Sexton, RN, MSNeD, Director of Nursing & Senior Services

Teresa Sexton, RN, MSNeD, Director of Nursing & Senior Services at Cabell Huntington Hospital, will provide information, materials and handouts about Medicare, including parts A, B, C and D. Additionally, participants will receive guidance and confidential counseling from certified Medicare counselors. Refreshments will be provided and free valet parking is available.

“It is very important that individuals approaching Medicare age know how to enroll and learn what services are available to them,” Sexton said. “These workshops are also open to individuals who already have Medicare but would like to learn more about their benefits. Our goal is to help everyone navigate their benefits and access the health coverage they deserve.”
