CHH Get Well Wednesdays begin Aug. 1 at Huntington Mall

With the new school year just weeks away, Cabell Huntington Hospital, the Hoops Family Children's Hospital, Cabell Pediatrics, the Huntington Mall and the Cabell-Huntington Health Department want to send students back to class with a positive attitude about health, nutrition and fitness.
Get Well Wednesdays will take place at the Huntington Mall on August 1, 8 and 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cabell Huntington Healthy Kids Play Place, located near the Elder-Beerman dome.
Each week, there will be special activities, health screenings and giveaways that will give kids a chance to learn more about their health, staying fit and eating nutritious food at home and school.
Weekly activities:
August 1
- Eat Well, Feel Well: Cabell Huntington Hospital nutrition experts will provide a simple and healthy lunchbox packing demonstration with free samples
- Screenings include: Hearing, Vision and Scoliosis
Screenings will be provided by nurses and physicians from the Hoops Family Children's Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital and University Pediatrics
- Immunizations (See list of available vaccinations below.)
Parents/guardians MUST bring shot records to receive vaccinations for their children.
August 8
- Chat with a doctor: Pediatrician Dr. James Bailes, with Cabell Pediatrics, and his office staff will answer general health questions and provide health screenings related to staying healthy and preventing obesity in children.
- Screenings include: Hearing, Vision and Scoliosis
Screenings will be provided by nurses and physicians from the Hoops Family Children's Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital and University Pediatrics.

Parents/guardians MUST bring shot records to receive vaccinations for their children.
August 15
- Huntington Y Fitness Fun
Join fitness experts from the YMCA for energizing and fun activities for children and adults.
- Screenings include: Hearing, Vision and Scoliosis
Screenings will be provided by nurses and physicians from the Hoops Family Children's Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital and University Pediatrics.

Parents/guardians MUST bring shot records to receive vaccinations for their children.
The Cabell-Huntington Health Department will provide the following adolescent and childhood immunizations on Aug. 1, 8 and 15 (Parent/guardian MUST bring childhood shot record for each child receiving immunizations):
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis)
- Rotavirus
- Hib (Haemophilus influenza type b)
- Pneumococcal
- Inactivated Poliovirus
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Meningococcal
- HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
- Tdap
*Tdap and Meningococcal are REQUIRED for any student going into 7th and 12th Grade for the 2012-2013 school year.
