A groundbreaking ceremony took place Sept. 10, 2013 to launch the construction of an 87-unit, multi-million dollar development by Chancellor Health Partners. Wyngate at RiversEdge will offer assisted living, memory care and independent living on 8.5 acres overlooking the Ohio River. It will have medical offices on its campus, where services will be provided by Cabell Huntington Hospital. During the groundbreaking, Brent A. Marsteller, President & CEO of Cabell Huntington Hospital, expressed his pleasure in starting a great partnership with the Wyngate family.
"It is an honor for Cabell Huntington Hospital to be part of a project like this, especially with a partner whose values and goals so closely mirror our own," he said. "Our shared focus is on maintaining the highest quality of life for seniors."
Chancellor owns and operates the Wyngate Senior Living Community in Barboursville, WV. This new project, Wyngate of RiversEdge, will combine housing and healthcare services in a home-like setting with 28 independent living apartments and 59 apartments in the assisted living community. The company owns thirteen communities in Ohio and West Virginia and is recognized by the industry as an innovator.
Wyngate at RiversEdge will have a medical facility located on the property, where services will be provided by Cabell Huntington Hospital. The medical facility will offer benefits to Wyngate residents as well as community members of all ages and offer primary and urgent care, imaging and lab services, physical therapy and home health care services.
Mike DePaola, Chancellor's Director of Administrative Services, pointed out that this multi-million dollar development will add many jobs to the area and will provide approximately $1,000,000 annually to the local economy. He added, “We plan to be a community resource and clearing house of information for seniors who find single family home ownership and living alone too burdensome at this stage of their lives.”
Wyngate at RiversEdge will be built on acreage on County Road 107, directly across from the Lawrence County Fairgrounds. It is scheduled to open in April 2014.
