Jane D'Egidio named Volunteer of the Year

Jane D'Egidio has been named the 2010 Volunteer of the Year by Cabell Huntington Hospital and the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center. Jane has volunteered at Cabell Huntington Hospital since 2004 and is Volunteer Coordinator for the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center. In that role, she recruits and places the Cancer Center's volunteers.

Among her proudest accomplishments has been the "blanket program" in place for newly diagnosed cancer patients. A handmade fleece lap blanket is given to patients when they begin their treatment at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Jane is the person who coordinates the project, buys supplies and hosts monthly meetings to create these special gifts for patients. In her time as a volunteer at the Cancer Center, Jane has logged more than 4,000 hours and she has become an asset and trusted face in the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center and Cabell Huntington Hospital.

The Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary awards the Volunteer of the Year honor to one of the nearly 200 volunteers who dedicate countless hours to provide comfort for patients. The 2009 Volunteer of the Year was Ray Ridgeway. Click here for more information about volunteering at Cabell Huntington Hospital or the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center.
