Christie Eastman, MA, LPC, NCC, ALPS ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Therapy and Supervisor Master Accelerated Resolution Therapist and Trainer

Counseling Center Manager

"I love working collaboratively with people to care for and heal what is hurting in their lives. Each person is unique, so together we find a way that fits best for them. Everyone brings their own strengths, experiences, needs, and goals to therapy. My part is to bring caring, skill, and experience, as well as my own humanity, to join with my clients on their healing journeys.

I provide therapy for adults suffering with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, work problems, childhood and adult trauma, relational problems, marriage/couple distress, family problems, parenting issues, unexpected life events, spiritual confusion & distress, and identity concerns.

For relational (and “attachment”) healing, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Too often, painful experiences have damaged our belief that we are worthy of love, good enough, or that we can trust others to be there for us. As an EFT therapist, I work with couples and families toward restoring what has been lost, and developing or restoring secure bonds of love and trust. In situations where restoring the relationship is not possible or beneficial, I use ART (see below) and other approaches to help my clients restore belief in their own value, and to learn how to build secure relationships with safe people now and in the future.

I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to address problems that have kept people held back in important areas of their lives. Some of the conditions I use ART to treat are: PTSD, single-incident traumas, relational injuries, OCD, phobias, panic attacks, test anxiety & other performance anxieties, depression, chronic pain, and performance improvement for people experiencing reduced physical functioning due to a medical condition.

In addition to the above, although I do not hold certifications in these, I am also an Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed therapist, and provide faith-based services on request.

Jaimie Armentrout, M.A., Licensed Psychologist, CEAP, Accelerated Resolution Therapist

Supervisor of Psychology & Child Services

"I am a licensed psycholigist, and I consider myself a cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist. I enjoy helping people process the challenging times and moments in their lives and discover new ways to perceive them. Finding a connection between thoughts and behaviors and how they impact emotional well-being along with learning and developing different ways to approach them can empower one to live a more authentic and fulfilling life. This allows one to define that moment rather than that moment defining them. I love working with children, adolescents and adults because each age offers an invaluable perspective on life and its inner workings.

I specialize in bereavement counseling and allowing people to process their losses while providing education regarding different types of grief responses. This allows them to see the normalcy in their grief despite it feeling so abnormal. I take pride in helping these individuals with implementing ways they can transition into their new or different sense of normal more realistically while being present with their emotions.

I take an integrative approach in looking at each person’s unique strengths and utilizing them to achieve success with their desired goals and outcomes."

Carolyn Collins, LPC, ICEEFT, CSAT, PSAP, CPTT, Certified Accelerated Resolution Therapist

Staff Counselor

"I happily joined the CHH Counseling Center in 2014 and some of my passions include helping others understand their own story so they can love and accept themselves in order to walk out life’s challenges as a healthier person.

I love seeing positive changes in individuals and couples as we walk together in their journey in the following ways:

  • Marriage counseling using Emotionally Focused Therapy – helping couples get to the heart of their issues using evidence-based therapy which utilizes our primary emotions to fulfill attachment needs for couples.
  • Individual therapy for personal growth including grief, depression, anxiety as well as a host of other life issues.
  • Sexual Addiction Therapy, which is designed to help others with intimacy disorders and I love working with the Betrayed Partner as well. As a Certified Betrayed Trauma Therapist, it is my sincere hope that I can provide a safe place to comfort the betrayed partner and their family struggling with sexual addiction. As you go through one of the most difficult seasons of your life, I will help you sort through the myriad of questions, confusion, shame and pain to find healing through this extremely traumatic time as you give yourself the gift of your own recovery, you will begin to see hope again.
  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which is an evidence-based form of therapy that has produced quick, effective and safe results in treating anxiety, depression, phobias, PTSD and many other issues as well.
  • I also offer counseling from a Christian perspective upon request.

I’ve been married for 44 years and have two adult sons and one goddaughter. My husband and I enjoy being involved in the community, in our church and in an International Christian motorcycle ministry.

Angie Juniper, MA, LPC, NCC, ALPS, CSAT, ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist/Supervisor, SEP, Master Acceleration Resolution Therapist

Staff Counselor

I am an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about walking alongside others on their healing journey towards emotional, spiritual and relational wholeness. I have spent the last 27 years embracing the stories of the brave and courageous who long for personal growth and change. I agree with Brene Brown who says, “When we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending.” I am a natural cheerleader who attempts to create a culture of connection where we are seen, heard, and understood. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, nationally certified and an Approved Licensed Professional Supervisor. Sharing my experience as I pass the baton to those younger in the field is important to me. I am a Certified Sexual Addictions Counselor, and an ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist and Supervisor. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner who listens to the story of the nervous system, helping clients escape the trap of trauma. I also practice as a Master trained Accelerated Resolution Therapist. I live with my family in Huntington, West Virginia. My husband of 27 years has taught me about unconditional love. My daughter, MacKenzie, has taught me about trust and faith as she has battled the genetic disorder, Williams Syndrome. Evan, my son, has taught me the game of baseball and the importance of developing your passions through hard work and determination. Little boys do steal their mom’s heart! The demonstration of loyalty and connection from my little dachshund, Sammi, added much joy to my life. Sammi passed away in April 2022, and I grieve her loss daily. I am fully dependent on my faith and consider this work to be SOUL-care. I am honored by the opportunity to be present with others as they expose the most vulnerable parts of self. My office is a safe, secure, nonjudgmental place for those struggling with pain. I truly believe we are all created for connection and cling to the theory and science of attachment to be what fundamentally guides my service to others."

Jennifer Kangas, MA, LPC, Accelerated Resolution Therapist

Staff Counselor

"Hi, I’m Jennifer, a Licensed Professional Counselor working at Cabell Huntington Hospital Counseling Center. I love welcoming teenagers, adults, couples, and families to process, to learn and grow, even to heal in a safe and open therapeutic relationship. I serve people who experience anxiety and depression, grief, trauma, self-harm, relationship, and personality issues.

I offer my experience and training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, and 160 hour training in hypnosis from Dr. William McDowell in 2000, followed by years of experience. I am about to complete training as a group mindfulness coach, and love sharing my learning and my practice with interested clients.

I earned my BA in social work from Michigan State University and my MA in mental health counseling form Marshall University. I worked in community mental health, school-based therapy services, private practice, and acute and residential care. I am honored to be a part of the Counseling Center team of caring and professional clinicians."

Tresa Litteral

Administrative Secretary

"I approach my role with the Counseling Center as a crucial first step in the healing process. I want to make you feel welcome, I want you to feel comfortable talking to me and that you are being heard. Hearing about what brings you to our Center helps me to ensure that we can set you up with a therapist that best suits your needs. I have been working at the Counseling Center for more than 17 years, and my passion for patient care continues to grow stronger each year.

When you are making the initial phone call or coming to your first appointment, I can help you with directions to our Center, what will need to be completed on the initial paperwork, scheduling, canceling and rescheduling appointments. If you are needing help navigating your insurance benefits or needing to know self-pay rates, I can answer any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. I would love to have the opportunity to help you with them.

Although it can get very busy in the office, I want each person to feel equally important and cared for. Reaching out for help can be a daunting task to some, and I want to be able to ease that anxiety."

Kara Mullins, MA, LPS

EAP/SAP Professional & Accelerated Resolution Therapist

"I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a National Certified Counselor in the state of West Virginia. I obtained both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Marshall University and I have been working in the mental health field since 2016. I started working in admissions in a psychiatric hospital setting right after college and then went on to become a therapist there. I have also worked in outpatient and private practice settings. I have worked with all walks of life in my time in this field and I am happy to offer individual, family, and couples counseling services. I primarily practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and Accelerated Resolution Therapy amongst other evidence-based approaches to assist patients in developing the skills that they need to live healthy and happy lives. I am eager to help clients work through many life issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal conflicts, low self-esteem, work and school stress and many other hardships that arise in our day-to-day lives.

I am working to become a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) and am currently taking new clients within the Employee Assistance and Student Assistance Programs to aid employees, their dependents, and students in their times of need. I am incredibly passionate about mental health and being a counselor. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to make a positive impact on people’s lives and help them become their best selves!"

Tenikka Phillips, MA, LPC, NCC, ALPS, AADC, CEAP, RYT200, Accelerated Resolution Trained Therapist

EAP/SAP Coordinator

"I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has a passion for assisting individuals in navigating life’s difficulties. I consider it an honor to hold space for people to work through some of the most intimate aspects of their lives. I believe mental health support is much more than focusing on a diagnosis. My approach is person centered as I truly focus on meeting people where they are in this moment of their lives and consider all aspects of the person (both the mental & physical) in efforts to assist them in finding the greatest relief as well as inner peace.

I am a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) who is passionate about assisting individuals in maintaining successful employment and academic careers as well as providing support to leadership within the corporate and academic settings. As an Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (AADC), I am also passionate about opportunities to assist people in achieving their substance use goals and assisting them in recognizing the roots of their substance use that go well beyond the actual use.

I believe that “issues live in the tissues” therefore I find that my background as a yoga teacher allows for the incorporation of somatic approaches (such as gentle movement and breathing exercises) as an additional resource for those who connect with such strategies. While talk therapy is something I often provide, I also recognize that talk therapy often isn’t enough for many especially when it is hard to put experiences and feelings into words. For this very reason, I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) as these approaches have proven to be very effective even when limited words are shared.

I strongly believe that each person is unique and deserves a plan that fits their unique needs. Through collaboration I work with my clients on creating plans that best meet their individual needs. Each client is the expert on their lives, and I simply get the privilege of navigating their therapeutic process."

Taylor Wells, MA, LPC, ICEEFT, Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist, Accelerated Resolution Trained Therapist

Staff Counselor

I joined Cabell Huntington Hospital’s Counseling Center in 2014 while completing my master’s degree in clinical and mental health counseling from Marshall University. During my time in college I realized that my personality, values, and passions perfectly aligned with the field of counseling. I view my job as a privilege, and it will always be my goal to support individuals, couples, and families as they navigate through some of life’s more difficult challenges. I work with individuals on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, issues in adolescent years, trauma, and self-esteem. As a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist, I provide EFT services for couples which is an evidenced-based method geared towards addressing dysfunctional relationship patterns and creating a safe and healthy connection between partners. I use a collaborative approach in my sessions, which allows space for me to create treatment plans based on each individual’s unique set of needs and goals. There is no greater honor than to be present with another human as they make the difficult decision to take control of their life and prove to themselves that they are capable of significant growth and change.
